She’s A Maneater to devour rivals

first_imgRound two of the Newport Mills-sponsored Front Runner Sprint 2-y-o maiden special over 1100 metres takes the spotlight at Caymanas Park today, with eight vying for the major share of the million-dollar purse. Since coming on stream in August, the race has been eventful to a large extent, the inaugural running on August 13 having to be postponed due to strike action by the engineering staff of Caymanas Track Limited; and when the race was rescheduled on September 3, the howling favourite, BALAZO, threw his rider Shane Ellis and bolted off the track in the closing stages after looking all over the winner. BALAZO has not returned for this race, but if exercise reports are anything to go by, then the well-bred filly SHE’S A MANEATER, who has been working exceptionally well, should make hacks of her seven opponents. Trained by 15-time champion Wayne DaCosta for owner Winston Kong, the bay filly by Natural Selection out of the 2009 ‘Horse of the Year’, Ahwhofah, looked razor sharp at exercise on September 10, galloping 51/2 furlongs in a fast 1:06.0 by 59.3, turning heads in the process. By virtue of her glowing exercise reports and fine pedigree, SHE’S A MANEATER, who is a half-sister to last year’s 2000 Guineas winner ALI BABA, cannot be opposed, with leading jockey Omar Walker aboard. She should be racing the clock from some way out. Other firm fancies on the card are ABOVE THE RADAR in the third race over his pet distance of 1820 metres, DUSSELDORF in the fifth, LEEKOUT in the sixth and RED EAGLE in the ninth. RAZOR SHARPlast_img
